The denouement of life
A peroration
A forlorn cogitation
Is the preponderance of it’s worth
Perhaps it manifests at birth
Or the Birdsong’s ballad
Of hopeful adjuration
But I have my hesitations
For it is my assertation
Not every ballad is buoyant
For the Mourning Dove coos
Of hopeless supplication
Or is it the resounding guffaw
Of the billions lost in a laugh
But what about the forlorn mourning
And all the tears they wept
Is it measured in the life
Of all who ever lived
Or is it the accumulated absence
Of all those lost in death
The denouement of life
Is the preponderance of it’s worth
And it is my assertation
That there’s not much left it’s worth
