How to Survive a Fairy Tale | Teen Ink

How to Survive a Fairy Tale MAG

By Anonymous

If you should find yourself lost in a book,
Where certainly no one would think to look,
Follow these tips to keep yourself safe,
From witch, or from troll, or cold-blooded snake.

Be Helpful
If someone should ask you for a helping hand,
Help without thinking, do not be grand.
Chances are, they will later come back,
to assist you from a confusing trap.

Listen
If you’re given advice, listen or be doomed,
Even if it comes from an animal,
However degrading, I am sure you will find
it is highly preferable to stay alive.

Be Cunning
While there are those who mean you no harm,
There are the people on the other arm,
Most would eat you without a regret,
So stay alert to keep safe from them.

Stick to the path,
don’t open the door,
keep away from that cottage,
or we’ll see you no more.
Follow these hints,
and you will be safe,
but beware if the rules you ignore and break.

Don’t say we didn’t warn you.

We are just an advanced breed of monkeys on a minor planet of a very average star. But we can understand the Universe. That makes us something very special.
Stephen Hawking

This is amazing! I LOVE it!I for sure am not the greatest poet, but I still love it anyway!

I have my own particular sorrows, loves, delights; and you have yours. But sorrow, gladness, yearning, hope, love, belong to all of us, in all times and in all places. Music is the only means whereby we feel these emotions in their universality. ~H.A. Overstreet

I'm a fairy tale lover, and this pretty much summed up all of it! comment on my work please, if you have the time.

"Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take but by the moments that take our breath away."

That was an excellent poem - very good idea.

Very interesting.... something in a different format which was refreshing :) and something that isn't so cliche is always fun to read.

I like this! It keeps to the rhythm of a limerick, and produces a witty ending. Good theme for the poem too!

"You look like a bloated, cross-eyed squid with a beard.... well, at least you hair looks right."
Me to my friend Heidi

There once was a girl in named Sue

Who found that her hair had turned blue

She turned pale with fright

At the hideous sight

And blamed it all on her shampoo

This is a simple limrick. They usually follow the pattern of AABBA.
