i fly toward the stars;
you crash into the
flame.
if big brother offers
salvation,
you open your heart
and let him watch it
crack,
waving your lighter
so he sees you in the crowd.
this is your catharsis
and your escape.
this is energy, euphoria,
asleep.
you lean in closer
to feel his frosted breath,
one step closer to a
fix.
i propose we
speed
up the process.
i condemn the nazis
for killing over race
and terrorists who bombed
in nonexistent names.
i only reject
what's already expired:
drinking
the sour milk
from your own breast,
created from birth
to welcome your death.
i propose we end the cycle of
abuse.
so if it's poison you crave,
i will inject you.
if it's heaven you seek,
i will deliver you.
i fly toward the stars;
you crash into the
flame.

thanks for the comment....the title is partly what the poem is about. and it's also about people who don't value life. but i don't like to say too much.

Hi Laura,

You use enjambment well, "offers / salvation... watch it / crack." Keep practicing. Try not to enjamb using "the". Also, think of some other titles. This one is too common for the poem. This poem needs to be tightened. What is it about?
