The Fault in our stars was written by John Green and published in early 2012. This New York Times bestseller and has a movie coming out this June. You may be wondering, is this book worth the hype? Yes, this book is a must read!
The book is in the perspective of 16 year-old Hazel Lancaster who has thyroid and lung cancer. Throughout the book Hazel had her ups and downs which I feel really helps you get to know and understand her. John Green did a remarkable job writing from the unpredictable point of view of a teenage girl. She is both logical and spontaneous, although the things she does makes sense the book always keeps you on your toes. While this isn’t the happiest book in the world Hazel constantly makes jokes about her disease, which lightens the mood. The little jokes during the course of the book may not seem important but I find they keep me more involved in the plot rather than sympathizing towards the characters.
