Okay, writers. Are you ready for a challenge? It’s time to create a fantastic flash-fiction piece using exactly 101 words. 

That’s right! One hundred and one words (101) exact — no more, no less. Think you can do it?

One winner and several honorable mentions will be published in Teen Ink magazine. The overall winner will receive a $25 Amazon gift card!

Deadline: August 30th, 2022

Guidelines: 

• Submissions should relate to the topic (“101 Word Story; Flash-Fiction”)

• Teen Ink will only consider entries by teens

• No inappropriate content

• There is no limit to the number of pieces you can submit!

• Be creative; test your limits; use your fantastic skills!

• Submissions must be fiction

• Submissions must be exactly one hundred and one (101) words

Submissions: 

• Submit entries through our website. All entries submitted to Teen Ink are automatically considered for the contest. See our submission guidelines for more information.

• To make sure your submissions are included in the contest, include "August 2022 Fiction Contest" in the first part of your submission's title (e.g., "August 2022 Fiction Contest: The Trees at Night").

• Submissions must be one hundred and one (101) words

• Submissions must be flash-fiction
