February is National Haiku Writing Month, so we obviously have to celebrate with a haiku contest! This is the time to put your skills to the test. Even if you think you aren't the best poet, submit your work anyway — we want to read everything you create!

A $25 Amazon gift card is waiting for the winner. Plus, the winner and honorable mentions will have their haikus published in Teen Ink magazine!

Deadline: March 1st, 2023

Rules:

• You must be a teen (aged 13-19) with a Teen Ink account to enter

• No inappropriate content

• Submissions must relate to the topic (Haikus)
  
  

Guidelines and Details: 

• Your entry must be a haiku

• Your haiku must follow these style rules: 
        - There must ONLY be three lines
        - You must follow a 5, 7, 5 syllable pattern (five syllables on the first line, seven syllables on the second line, and five syllables on the third line)
  

• There is no limit to the number of pieces you can submit

How to Submit: 

• Submit entries through our website. All entries submitted to Teen Ink are automatically considered for the contest. See our submission guidelines for more information.

• Submit your work to the "Haiku" category of Teen Ink. You can find this selection after selecting the initial "Article/Poetry" submission type.

• Include "haiku" in your submission's tags. You can do this by using the "additional tags" field in your submission form.

Prizes: 

• Winner and honorable mentions will have their haiku published in Teen Ink magazine

• The overall winner will receive a $25 Amazon gift card
