Halloween Writing Contest – Spooky Stories!

Teen Ink is thrilled to announce that, with the help of SourceBooks, we're brewing up a spooky contest just in time for Halloween! For this contest, you'll need to channel your inner horror writer because YA Horror author Jeff Strand will judge it. So go ahead and start conjuring up your most terrifying tales that will leave us all shaking!

We’re also excited to add that the first 20 people to enter will each receive copies of seven of Strand’s books courtesy of SourceBooks. Even better, the top three winners will each receive signed copies of seven of Strand’s books, and Jeff Strand will provide feedback on their stories!

Entry Deadline: August 31, 2024

Rules:

• You must be a teen (aged 13-19) with a Teen Ink account to enter

• No inappropriate content

• Submissions must relate to the topic
  

• Stories must be PG-13

• No AI-Generated content

Guidelines and Details: 

• Entry must be between 300-500 words

• Your entry must be written by you

• There is no limit to the amount of entries you can submit

• This contest is restricted to Teen Ink users residing in the United States and Canada

How to Submit: 

• Submit entries through our website. Submit entries through our website. All entries submitted to Teen Ink are automatically considered for the contest. See our submission guidelines for more information.

• Submit your work to the appropriate fiction category on Teen Ink. Include "Horror Contest" in your submission's tags. You can do this by using the "additional tags" field in your submission form.

Prizes: 

• The top three winners will:
  -     Have their stories published in Teen Ink magazine
  -     Receive writing feedback on their stories from Jeff Strand
  -     Receive signed copies of the following books by Jeff Strand:
