National Short Film Day takes place this month (December 28th to be exact), and we'd like to honor it with a contest! Since this day is meant to commemorate short films and the motion picture industry, what better way to celebrate than with a Short Film Competition?

So, if you're an aspiring actor or director, or just like being creative and have a love for film, this contest is for you! In just one to five minutes, show off your skills — we will be focusing on production and creativity, so make it good! Your film does not have to be part of any specific genre — you can tell a story, depict a memory, or just show something that you think will be interesting

The winner and honorable mentions will have their films published in Teen Ink magazine. The overall winner will also receive a $25 Amazon gift card! 

Deadline: January 13th, 2023

Rules:

• You must be a teen (aged 13-19) with a Teen Ink account to enter

• No inappropriate content (vulgar language is considered as inappropriate)

• Submissions must relate to the topic (Short Films)

• You MUST have permission from all individuals participating in the film — All individuals that appear in your film must grant permission to be published online and in Teen Ink magazine. You must also credit those in the film when submitting your video.

Guidelines and Details: 

• Film Time: Your film must be between one and five minutes

• There is no limit to the number of pieces you can submit

• Films can be ANY genre — As long as you do not include any inappropriate content in your film, all submissions will be accepted as a contest entry. 

How to Submit: 

• Submit entries through our website. All entries submitted to Teen Ink are automatically considered for the contest. See our submission guidelines for more information.

• Include the words "Short Film" in your submission's tags. You can do this by using the "additional tags" field in your submission form.
  

• Submit your reviews to the "Video" category on our site. Select the review type that is relevant to your short film; if you do not see an appropriate category type, select "Other."
  

Prizes: 

• Winner and honorable mentions will have their film published in Teen Ink magazine
