Racism is a big problem in the united states. It affects everyone, and it has a negative effect on everyone. People are discriminated against everyday, and no one is standing up for them. I think that teaching acceptance in schools would make people less prone to racism. If students were taught love and acceptance racism wouldn’t be an issue. No one is born hating another race. But sadly, people nowadays are taught to hate over time through stereotypes and people of power demonstrating racism. As alex haley said “Racism is taught in our society, it is not automatic. It is learned behavior toward persons with dissimilar physical characteristics.”

Even though many people may think that racism is over, it's not. There are still people in this country that deem people with a different skin tone than them as lesser people. Even as recent as 1954, the public school system had the right to segregate their classes by keeping white students with white students, and colored students with colored students. But when america was desegregated, the united states saw a decrease in violent crime.

The more we push acceptance in schools the more students will realize that there is no reason to hate another person or group of people based on the color of their skin. If this were taught more in schools there would be a decrease in violent crimes in schools and in everyday life.

In conclusion I believe that if it was in public schools curriculum to teach acceptance. Society would be better as a whole because people wouldn't see each other as different races, but rather as human beings. There would be more mutual respect and the world would be a happier place.
