The gas pedal inched downwards as his muscles relaxed. Eyes drooping and car accelerating as the California highway passed by. His drifting mind set on replay. She said it was too much, too far, and now over. She became farther and home became closer. Darkness surrounded the car with only stars and streetlights to brighten the path. His hands slipped, the wheel set free. The road disappeared beneath.
