YOUR PERSONALITY TYPE AT A GLANCE.

ISTJ: introvert, sensing, thinking and judging. You are the brooding male love interest! When the protagonist meets you in chapter three, or episode one, she is very intimidated by you but still finds herself wanting more. You’re very hard to get because you don’t understand your own feelings most of the time. It’s rumored that you’re immune to emotions— oh wait! The pretty female protagonist is in desperate need of you! She teaches you how to love, aw! You’re very serious; truths and facts are most important to you; that is why you shake your head in disgust when your love interest’s friends want to go fight a fight they can not win. You have a strong sense of duty and feel responsible for everything you own and the people that you love. So, of course, when something eventually happens to your love interest—a kidnapping, a sleeping spell, an attempted murder, a breakup, anything—you go into “catastrophe mode.” You become very angry and start breaking things—and in the right fictional world, start murdering people! You will just do whatever it takes to fix this problem and save your love interest! The world will collapse without her, so you must tear the world apart to get her back.

ISTP: introvert, sensing, thinking and perceiving. You are the ONE teenager that it takes to overthrow the government! You’re logical and practical and not interested in theories or concepts unless you can see a practical application. Also, you thrive on action. So, when the government is going against your beliefs of fairness and equality and the hard-core facts of the universe, you just want to spring into action! You do not care about the rules and will do your own thing, even if it means you get hurt or thrown in jail. You avoid making judgements based on personal values and instead base decisions on facts. This means that you have no problem leaving your loved ones if it means making the world a better place in your self-destruction. These decisions are spontaneous and unpredictable, but it is the decision you make. You are prone to boredom rather quickly, so you need to destroy governments fast.

ISFJ: introvert, sensing, feeling and judging. You are two tropes into one: you are the martyr who puts all your friends before yourself and cannot handle any criticism of yourself! Since you are very dedicated to your loved ones, always ready to defend them and very sensitive to their feelings, it is obvious that you will take care of them. You nurture and defend—but only other people. You don’t care much of yourself, so this makes it a little difficult when someone criticizes you. Raised kind of sheltered and constantly praised, you never experienced any hard no’s or any criticisms, so you thought your world was perfect. You didn’t need any looking after! You could take the time away from yourself and focus on taking care of others because you were perfect. Although, you’re not. Because when someone makes even the slightest negative comment, you collapse and crumble into a million pieces. You think the whole world is going to end, and that you were never good at anything at all! You never got to experience the real world until it was too late.

ISFP: introverted, sensing, feeling and perceiving. This means you are the “tortured artist” or the “bad boy who is a jerk because of his troubled past”—choose one based on the fictional world you imagine yourself in. You are an artist of some form—a journalist, a write, a painter, a violin player. Despite having a very welcoming hobby, you are not very welcoming! You have difficulty connecting with other people at first and people are very wary of you, probably because you’re a jerk! Something happened to you in your past and it makes you unapproachable. But once people get to know you, you become very warm and charming. They realize that you just had a bad past and that you’re closed to the world because you need to experience that it is kind. In experience you find wisdom and realize that you were always ready to explore the world.

INFJ: Introvert, intuitive, feeling and judging, you are the Chosen One. Less than 1% of the population, you are extremely rare. You are destined to be the one person able to fix or defeat or solve anything. You live in a world of hidden meanings and possibilities—you spend hours deciphering clues and figuring out exactly what the universe has in store for you. You prefer things to be systematic, but you can also be spontaneous. Things work in your head the way you understand, although others might see a mess. But it’s a mess that only you can figure out. You have a “psychic nature,” which can only help you solve your clues about what the universe has in store for you, if only you can find the clues in that messy desk of yours! What am I saying? Of course, you can, it is your system!

INFP: introvert, intuitive, feeling and perceiving. You are the pale savior complex! Part of your personality, Mr. Idealist, is that you strive to make the world a better place for other people. You are constantly questioning what your purpose in life is and how you can best serve humanity. You want things to be perfect, so when one of your values are violated, your flexible and laid-back personality becomes very aggressive. You fight for what you believe in, and sometimes don’t notice mundane things like a stain on the carpet and sometimes you forget to eat. Anyway, you’re the pale savior complex because you have this destiny to help other people—it’s all you want to do with your life, like those characters who think it’s their destiny to help those less fortunate.

INTJ: Introvert, intuitive, thinking and judging. You’re the “only one friend” trope! INTJs are the scientists, the architects, the masterminds. They strive to fulfil high standards they’ve set for themselves and constantly focus on strategic planning. They prefer applying a concept rather than understanding. Because of this, they’re most likely to go into a scientific field. Also, they’re natural leaders; although, they usually choose to stay in the background until they see a reason to take over the lead. I interpret that INTJs are so focused on their work and being involved in activities and leading them that they never managed to make friends, except for the one person from kindergarten they still talk to.

INTP: Introvert, intuitive, thinking and perceiving. You are the villain! Not just any villain though, you are the villain who is too smart for his own good. You are very smart and value knowledge above all else. You believe that the world must change in order to be correct; but, in order to “save” the world, you will destroy it and thus be a villain. You don’t understand how decisions are made by feelings, which is why it’s easy for you to be villainous and do all the malevolent things your trope is known to do. But the thing is, you think you are helping. You’re just a tragic hero. Also, you have a good ability to read people, so your enemies or your minions have no reason to lie to you because you will just see right through them.

ESTP: extroverted, sensing, thinking and perceiving. People with ESTP preferences are the type of people who live in the here-and-now. They’re the protagonist who everyone and their brother tells them not to do something, but they do it anyway. ESTPs are smart and energetic, always need to keep moving. They truly enjoy living on the edge, which is why they constantly do things their loved ones advise them against doing.

ESTJ: As an extraverted thinker with a tendency to sense and judge, you are the protagonist whose only flaw isn’t a flaw! You honor tradition and laws and believe in doing what you believe is right. You are the epitome of good citizenry. You value security and social order above all else and feel obligated to do all that you can to enhance and promote these goals. You put a lot of forth into everything you do. Your only flaw, technically, isn’t a flaw because when you’re under stress you tend to feel misunderstood and undervalue and have difficulty expressing those feelings. Despite that, you’re quite perfect

ESTP: As an extraverted feeler with a tendency to sense and perceive, you are a sinner with a heart of gold! Although you aren’t a sinner, you are the popular kid in school who loves being on stage and have all eyes on you. That fact alone could make you appear narcissistic, and thus a sinner. Don’t worry, though! Despite being stage-centered, you are aware that the world does not revolve around you. You are generous and kind towards other and are often the ones trying to make peace around everyone.

ESFJ: You are extroverted, sensing, feeling and judging, thus making you the mean, blonde cheerleader who comes into her own and becomes a better person! Generally, you are a very warm and caring person who loves to make people feel good about themselves. You are raised with a strong value system, so you always do what you believe is best. However, you have a strong need to be liked and to be in control. On top of that, you are very manipulative. Because you do not have intuition, you do not understand the real consequences of your actions. You are driven to manipulate others to achieve you own ends, yet you believe that you are following a solid moral code of conduct. You introduce yourself to people as manipulative and cruel, but the more people get to know you—the more you get to know yourself—the more you become a better person who genuinely cares about others, and not what benefits you by being kind.

ENFP: extroverted, intuitive, feeling and perceiving. You are the most overused trope in the entire universe: love triangles! You are love triangles because there are two sides to you, that anyone could fall in love with. You love people and are a great socializer, who can always find a reason for you or others to smile. You operate from your feelings, meaning that you are kind and considerate. Despite all this, you can also be a great manipulator. You’re moody and like to do your own thing. You do not like cookie cutter people and hate when you’re forced to live inside a box—this is the trait people are attracted to because this interprets that you’re independent. Also, one of your type’s names is “Champion,” and obviously, someone comes out victorious in love triangles.

ENFJ: Extroverted, intuitive, feeling and judging. To continue with the love triangle set-up, you are “bad boy mchunky.” You are intensely reserved and do not like to talk about your feelings. You feel lonely even when surrounded by other people. Although some of your motives can be manipulative, your motives are usually unselfish. People just don’t see that because you are more reserved that most extroverted types. They see what they want to see about you, but if they are the female lead with the pretty brown eyes then they’d see you truly love and understand people and are loyal and trustworthy in relationships. You tend to concentrate on the abstract happening and what could happen in the future instead of focusing on “now.”

ENTP: Extroverted, intuitive, thinking and perceiving—you are the boy next door! You understand people and what the world is that they live in. You are intelligent and knowledgeable, and you cannot resist a challenge. Although you’re a fluent conversationalist and mentally quick, you do not enjoy small talk and may not thrive in social situations despite being an extrovert.

ENTJ: Extrovert, intuitive, thinking and judging. Congratulations, you won the big game! You are the star athlete who leads your team to victory. You are a natural born leader who loves being in charge. You are bold and imaginative, always finding a way—or making one. You dislike seeing mistakes repeated and become harsh when patience is tried. Always so focused on winning the game, you’re not always tuned into other people’s feelings.

The author's comments:

Those of us who read books or watch tv shows will notice some character tropes that are overused and annoying, such as the boy next door, the bad boy love interest, or the tortured artist. Personality types are always a fun to apply in a different context, so why not annoying character tropes? This was really fun to write, so I hope you enjoy!
