The Nameless Box
My name is Sammy Stern. I was just a seventeen year old girl living in Louisiana. I went to a high school called Lakeview High. My parents were out of town for a few days so I was home alone. I was hanging out with my friends all weekend and having a great time. One of my friend’s name was Sarah and the other was Ashley. Ashley and I looked a lot alike because we both had long, dirty- blonde locks and blue eyes. Sarah, on the other hand, had brown hair and brown eyes. Ashley and I were best friends and Sarah felt left out many times. She felt like a third wheel.
Sarah was very well known for her pranks because they were always really good and unique. I did not really like this because I felt that sometimes she took it too far. One day, Sarah confronted Ashley and me. This led to a major altercation in the group. Everyone was fighting back and forth with each other and now that I look back at it, it was not for a good reason.
I thought the feud had been solved because it had been a couple of weeks since anything about it had been mentioned. Everything was going fine until one day when I walked home from school and found a strange box on my porch. It had no name, address, or stamp so someone obviously dropped it off instead of mailing it. Curiously, I brought it inside and began to open it. As I opened it, I noticed something weird. The only thing I saw inside was a thin piece of paper which said “ I will terminate you.” Not knowing what to think about this, I immediately called the police. They took it very seriously and dusted for fingerprints or any other type of evidence.
They searched my house, asked me who my enemies were, and wrote a report all during the same day. Ugh, I was starting to think I should not have gotten the police involved and just let it go. My parents would be home soon and I did not want them involved in this mess. When they finished checking for evidence, the police told me that they had a match for the fingerprints. It was Sarah. She had pulled another one of her over the top pranks.
“You could have done a more mediocre prank!” I exclaimed.
I quickly apologized to the police for making a big deal out of nothing and the police told me it could have been serious and that they are glad I called. I then admonished Sarah for pulling such a serious prank and I was very irate about it. We were both really tired and decided to discuss the dilemma tomorrow.
