Behind Her
Behind her, the noise escalated to a roar. The sound of gunfire became louder and louder as the battle came closer and she took one last look at her beloved woods. Soon her peaceful get away of 16 years would be full of the horrors of war. Even after the bodies are gone and the rain has washed away all the blood and gun powder from the ground, the trees will still whisper the stories of terror and how the ones she loved were destroyed just as quickly as the peace she had lived in for all her life. Nothing would ever be the same again, as soon as the warring armies came crashing through. She said goodbye to all she loved, woods and men alike, then ran and ran as fast and as far as her legs would take her, through the woods she had once called home.
