Black Night
I stand in the middle of the street, my eyes open. Black. It’s what I see. Black. No stars. No moon. It’s a black night. Heavy clouds cling close to the ground. I can feel my body getting cold by the falling water. Light flashes in a zigzag shape and touches the ground near me. I don’t flinch, I don’t move. A roll of thunder interrupts the night. It sends shivers down my back, and when it’s gone I think the storm goes with it. But it hasn’t. More thunder comes and this one is so fierce, so loud, that I think it splits the sky in two. I look up and feel the rain hit my face and slide off of my chin. I don’t worry about getting sick or getting struck by the light. I may only get to see when the sky flashes, but I don’t want to leave this. I don’t want to leave this black night.
