Reflection
I am here. She sits beside me. Always beside me. My swollen eyes dare not meet hers. Forcing my cracked mouth to move I plead, "Leave me," in a beaten dog whine. " I cannot." she replies as her snakes lips curl upwards. If i had ever had any sense of self preservation I would have left before I came. My words stumble out, "Why can't you leave?" I feel her sharp stare move across my skin. She lays a bony, warped hand on to my shoudler and answers unblinkingly, unshakingly, "Because I am you."
I drown.
