The Tragedy of Mr.Cards
The Tragedy of Mr. Cards
(Chapter One)
It was a normal dreary afternoon in Gravesvill on November 22nd 1986. Just five days away from thanksgiving. Our story here is told by Mr. Cards, an average man with an average job, and an average pay. Though not at all an average life, but let's get on with it shall we?
This afternoon was one that was going to be special. Mr. Cards had just purchased a fine diamond ring for his beloved Mary Luu. He walking down Clue Avenue with a big bright smile on his face when is started to rain cats and dogs. This did not distract Mr. Cards in the slightest he just kept his way down to Mary's apartment. However for some reason there was a large crowd around the building. A little bit of fear struck him and he ran to see what was going on. As he was pushing through the crowd they looked at him and almost cried. He fear grew with now a pounding heart beat that he was sure everyone could hear it. When he finally got through he saw to his horror Mary Luu on the ground, surrounded by a pool of blood, a knife in her chest, and a barely recognizable torn up face. He said nothing; he was unable to utter the slightest peep. All he did was crash down over her body and silently cry until he screamed out in pain as he pried out the ring from his pocket. The crowed watched in shock, sadness and horror. For you see, Mr. Cards and Mary had been together for almost five complete years.
About 2 hours after his shock Mr. Cards was finally torn away from his Mary for questioning with standard questions.
“Was she acting at all strange in the past few days or weeks?” Asked the Officer
“No,” sighed Mr. Cards clutching the blanket around him closer and looking away, “Just her normal perfect self.” The officer sighed with a look of pity and sadness.
“I think that's enough questioning for now.” He walked off leaving Mr. Cards with his blanket that had been made for him by Mary...Mary....Mary Luu was all he could think of. This was a loss to everyone because Mary Luu had always brought a smile to everyone and now that she isn't there it feels... empty. While Mr. Cards was sitting there, two people were walking by discussing an old legend. Being a curious man this intrigued Mr. Cards along with hoping to get his mind off the terrible thing that had just occurred.
“Ah bet it's the old curse!” Coughed the first man
“What curse?” Asked Mr. Cards
“The curse of the old castle that this building was built on.” Said the second man
“What's the curse?” Asked Mr. Cards now even more intrigued.
“Well.....”Started the first man scratching his scraggly beard “The Curse says that any maiden of pure kindness and pure of heart will die due to a horrible accident that happened with the kings wife. You see-the king and his wife had a new beautiful relationship that lasted around almost five complete years until the king found out that his wonderful lady had been having an affair with one of his knights. He killed them both with his brutal fists and fatal strikes to their chests with a knife.” Explained the second man
“That's horrible!” Exclaimed Mr. Cards
“It truly is isn't it?” Asked the first man
“Definitely.” Said the second man “Well we'd best not bother you with such nonsense seeing how the poor woman was your beloved.” They walked off and Mr. Cards was left alone again.
Two years later~
(Chapter Two)
It had been two almost three years now since Mary's death. Mr. Cards was still very much broken by her absence. Over these years something had changed in him. He was no longer able to love another; he was so broken he started to despise those that resembled his dear Mary Luu. But then one day as the evening news lady started to report and have the smile like Mary, he cracked. He burst out in anger and sadness. He started to smash everything in his way. He ran to the nearest woman that resembled her. This was Miss Clover. He shakily knocked on her apartment door. She opened it.
“Oh, Hello Mr. Cards. Are you alright? You look a little shaken up.” She said
“I..I..I'm fine. May I come in to talk?” Asked Mr. Cards
“Of course!” She said as she let him and they sat at her counter, “Would you like a coffee?”
“Water's fine, thank you.” Said Mr. Cards watching her get up and start getting coffee. More shakier than before he slowly got up and grabbed a knife. He put it behind his back as he abruptly turned Miss Clover around to face him.
“Oh! Mr. Cards?!” Asked Miss Clover. He raised the knife and she shrieked a mighty shriek. The neighbors had heard the scream and knocked down the door, but it was too late. Mr. Cards was gone and they only found blood on the floor leading to the window. They looked out and saw Miss Clover's body on the ground, broken, with a knife in her chest.
Mr. Cards ran and ran; he ran until he couldn't anymore and fell. He couldn't gather what he had just done. What on Earth made him do it? Later that night he couldn't live with what he did. He made his own noose and hung himself over the old swamp on the edge of town. You see folks, this is a cycle, Miss Clover had a lover just like little Mary Luu. So you can guess what's going to happen next, and watch out, because you could be next. ~
