The Angel MAG
"Go to Earth
in search for Happiness.
Then return to me,
and you will be made an angel,"
God spoke to the spirit.
"I have long awaited
this glorious day,
and will return
triumphant,"
said the spirit.
The spirit journeyed,
from Heaven to Earth
beginning his quest
for true Happiness.
A farmer was spotted,
trudging through mud.
He dragged a cart,
broken and old.
The spirit said:
"Excuse me, kind sir,
but are you happy?"
"I have seven children,
a dying wife,
and my crops are dead.
I have no place
for Happiness,"
he replied.
The spirit journeyed on.
A mansion was seen
on top of a hill.
The master was approached
by the spirit.
"Pardon me, sir,
but could you tell me
where Happiness lies?"
"Why, here, of course.
I have slaves in here
bidding my wish.
Chefs in the kitchen
preparing my dish.
Guards protect me
night and day.
How could I be happy,
any other way?"
said the master.
But the spirit saw
inside his heart
and instantly knew
that he was not.
For he had no friends
and therefore no love.
So the spirit journeyed on.
A three-legged dog
ran down a street.
The spirit approached
and said:
"Animal, be you happy?"
The dog replied:
"I am missing a leg,
and so I am starving.
It was lost in trap,
set by my master.
I can no longer hunt,
and so I am forgotten.
Happiness has
deserted me."
And so the quest continued.
A girl lay sleeping
under a tree.
And despite her rags,
was pleasantly smiling.
The spirit thought:
Why is this girl
smiling so fondly?
She seems to be poor,
and have no family.
So why does this girl
seem to be happy?
And so the spirit
entered her dream
in search of what
could be possibly be
so enjoyable.
He saw the girl
in a beautiful dress,
surrounded by family
who love her best.
"Here," the girl said,
"I am truly happy."
"Thank you, child,
for you have now given me
my own Happiness,"
the spirit said.
And so the spirit
returned to God,
and triumphantly reported
his quest.
