Everyday in the battered trenches we sit.
Everyday we do it without getting hit.
Everyday we stare at the lonely faces.
Everyday we guess how many more places.

Everyday we smell the oncoming gas.
Everyday we wonder when it will pass.
Everyday we see the messengers sent.
Everyday we always decide to repent.

Everyday it’s the buzz of a bullet we hear.
Everyday we know that the shells are near.
Everyday we hear the words of white, wispy ghosts.
Everyday we hear the greetings of our new hosts.

Everyday we see a body fly.
Everyday we ask if it will go by.
Everyday we taste the bitterness of blood.
Everyday we touch the watery mud.

Everyday we lead a devil’s life.
Everyday we are poised with a knife.
Everyday it’s like a piercing through our hearts,
To kill another human and watch him part.

Everyday we yell, “Will the war ever end?”
Everyday we cry “Will we ever mend?”
Everyday we watch a great friend die.
Everyday we wonder “Why, oh Why?”

I love learning about world wars and I felt like writing a poem from the perspective of a soldier in World War I. I just hope people will learn some more about the war even from this small poem

I am not discrediting war. I think in some cases it is necessary. However I also believe that there are many times when we jump into wars that need not be fought. I also believe that after speaking to many vets they all suffer in some way after war, and is it always worth it for the damage it does? But overall no I am not discrediting war because it can be a very necessary and effective means of achieving something.

"I feel that a hero is somebody who will stand up for their values and what they believe in and that can take any form. People that have values and have thought them through rather than those who just do what they’re told."-Skandar Keynes

"When it’

Just a question: the last couple of verses/stanzas make me wonder, are you discrediting the war?
