Never Gonna Happen
Quiet corrupted the halls as soon as Eddie left.
As usual. He was the loud one. Always screaming.
I’ve gotten over him. Basically, because if he’s going out with Molly, I’m not good enough for him.
So I give up. Sort of.
I was taking books out of my locker, thinking about the possibilities of Eddie breaking up with Molly,
when I saw cowboy boots next to me, and my heart almost stopped.
I didn’t look up.
My eyebrows were up in a worried line and I was still trying to cram my math book in my backpack.
“You know your face could get stuck like that.” Joey chuckled.
I clenched my jaw.
“What are you doing here?” I said tensely.
He laughed. “Well, my sister wanted to stay but I kept begging.”
“You were the one begging!?” I said, still not looking up.
“Well of course.” he said.
“Why?” I said, “I thought you hated it here.”
“I do.” he mumbled, “But I wanted to see you.”
I froze. “Did you just say-”
“Yes I did.”
I looked up. He was staring at me.
“Really!?” I squeaked.
He grinned.
I thought I was going to melt right there.
He held out his hand and helped me up.
“Seriously?” I said.
He laughed, “Yep.”
He was about two inches away from kissing me when…
“Oh my god!!!” Michelle squealed, “It’s Joey!! Ohmygod you were going to kiss!! Ah! I’m sorry!! I’m ruining your moment!.”
Joey sighed, “I guess we really can’t have a moment can we?”
I looked at Michelle, “When did you get here? I thought you went home.”
She started backing away, “I’m sorry!!” she squeaked, “I totally ruined everything.”
She sprinted down the hallway.
Joey wrapped me in his arms and looked at me.
“Where were we?” I said.
“Here,” he said leaning closer, “Let me remind you.”

I should’ve known I was dreaming.
But when I woke up I couldn’t help but feel disappointed.
It had all seemed so real.
I laid back down and turned onto my other side.
I almost died when I saw who was sitting in my desk chair.
“Hey,” Joey said, a grin slowly spreading across his face, “Did you know you talk in your sleep?”
