Silent
You never realize how loud life can be until everything goes silent. Silence can be both good and bad. The silence when waiting to jump out from behind a couch to yell “Surprise!” at a friend, compared to the silence right before solders get ready to fight in the war. The sound of the big cities, compared to the silence of the country. Awkward silences when no one knows what to say, and the silence of students taking tests. “Silent as the grave”, is a saying I remember hearing once, but at the time I didn’t know what it ment. Now I know a lot more that I probably should. The phrase means to be completely silent; a dead person in a grave makes absolutely no noise at all. I argue with my friends; that I’m not that loud, but honestly, I would rather be loudly obnoxious than completely silent.
