“Why does school have to start tomorrow,” I whined.

“Stop thinking of the negative stuff, Vanessa,” Liz exclaimed.
“But if school starts that means we can’t have as many sleepovers,” I said, feeling sad.
When I got home, I asked my mom, “When do you think I could have another sleepover with Liz?”

All she said was that she didn’t know. I went up to my room and got changed into my pajamas, brushed my teeth, and turned off the light. Then I climbed into bed and close my eyes. Suddenly I heard a loud noise. Crash! Bang! Smash!

I jumped out of bed and quickly turned on my light. There, standing by my bookshelf, I saw my younger brother Billy.

“Billy! What are you doing in here?” I shouted.
“I was making a fort,” he replied. “Then I went in my room to get something and when you turned off the light, I walked back into your room, but I ran into your bookshelf,” Billy said in a scared voice.
“Why in my room?” I replied angrily.
“There’s more room in your room than mine,” he responded.
“Ok, Billy but can you please leave,” I asked.
“Sure,” he said, and walked out.
Now in the morning I have to pick up all the books and magazines that fell off the bookshelf. “Brothers are so annoying,” I thought.
Then I turned off the light again and closed my eyes. I woke up to the sound of my alarm clock. I sat up and looked down from my bed at the floor and saw the books and magazines that were there from last night. I got up and put the books and magazines back on the shelves and walked into the hallway.
I could barely stand as I waited outside the bathroom door. My older brother takes forever in the the bathroom. He is in there longer than my mom and trust me my mom takes a long time.
My older brother’s name is Daniel. He is seventeen. Daniel and Billy look so alike because they have the same light brown hair and blue, green eyes.
Finally, Daniel got out of the bathroom, I felt like a whole hour passed when it was only 15 minutes. Once Daniel left the bathroom, I took my toothbrush out from the holder. After my mouth felt all minty, I picked up my hair brush and started to brush my silky chestnut hair.  I flipped my hair in a messy bun. When I glanced in the mirror my hair looked amazing with my dark blue eyes. Like I always do, I grabbed a yogurt cup from the fridge and ate it for breakfast.

When I got to school, I immediately saw Liz and my other friends. The first thing out of my mouth was “did you ask your mom about when we can have another sleepover?”
Liz answered,  “Yes, I did, but my mom said we have to wait a week or so.”
”Oh!” I responded in a quiet voice.
“Sorry we can’t have a sleepover for a week or so,” Liz said trying to cheer me up. When I get home, I have to talk to my mom about when Liz and I  could have another
sleepover! I really hope it can be this weekend. So when I got home, I immediately asked my mom when I could have another sleepover, but she stopped me and sighed.
”You can’t have another sleepover for at least a month” she said sympathetically.
I just looked at her sadly.
My mom continued,  “Liz’s mom and I talked, but we are both way too busy for you and Liz to have a sleepover.”
     “What!” I cried.
”I’m sorry, honey, but it won’t work until next month,” my mom said.
“But why NEXT MONTH!” I said in a loud voice.
“That’s when we are both not busy,” my mom replied to me. After that bad news and ran to my room and shut the door and started to cry I was that upset.

The next day Liz and I were both sad because of the news. Luckily, the first month of school went really fast. Then, after a really long school day, I got home and my mom was standing with two bags in her hands. She smiled at me, and I smiled back. I grabbed the bags and I ran out the door to Liz’s house and had The Best Sleepover Ever! Liz was right. Waiting makes the sleepover even more special!
