Family Story
Marie is arriving home from school. She opens the door to hear her parents yelling. She ignores them, and walks up to her room, so that she can start her homework. But, as she was doing her homework, she can still hearing her parents yell at each other, so she goes downstairs to see. She then sees a plate breaking as she was about to ask them to stop, making the noise louder to the point where she can't hear herself think. so she brings he homework to the patio, so she can continue.
Later that evening, after Marie finishes her homework, and after her parents stop arguing, her parents tell Marie that dinner is ready. Marie can smell dinner from the patio. The fresh smell of Meatloaf made her mouth water. Marie walks inside, and sees that dinner is already on the table. Marie and her parents sit at the table, and they eat their meatloaf, which has a rich flavor. As they are finishing, her parents start to speak to Marie.
“Marie, we’re sorry we were yelling while you were doing your homework”
“What are you arguing for?” Marie asked curiously. Her mom responded,
“Well, your dad and I were thinking of getting a divorce. And you might be moving out.” Marie is in shock, then she exclaims with a panicky tone.
“W-What’s gonna happen to me?” Her dad gently touches her hand.
“Don’t worry, nothing is going to happen to you. We still love you very much.” Her dad replied. Marie slowly pushes her dinner plate away.
“You OK, sweetie?” Her mom asks curiously.
“I-I’m fine. I’m just not that hungry.” Marie gets up from the table, and runs to her room.
Marie decides to call her best friends Sarah on her cell phone. She grabs her cell phone, and calls sarah, and the phone was ringing for a long time, then Sarah eventually answers.
“Hello?” Sarah responds.
“Hi, Sarah. This is Marie.”
“Is everything OK?”
“”I just have a lot on my mind today. Do you want to get ice-cream later? I wanna try to get my mind off of things.”
“Sure.” Sarah continued.
“Meet me at the ice-cream parlor in a half hour”
“Are you going by bike, or are you walking this time?” Marie asked with a curious tone.
“I think I’ll take my bike.”
“i’m taking my bike as well.”
“O. I’ll see you in a half hour” Sarah answered.
“Bye” Marie responded. Marie hangs up her cell phone, and walks back downstaires.
“Hey, Marie. Who were you talking to?” Marie’s mom asked criously.
“I was just talking to my best friend.”
“What were you talking about with Sarah?” Her dad joined in.
“Oh, we were just talking.” Marie commented. 20 minutes past, and Marie decides to walk to the ice-cream parlor.
“I’m going to be out for a bit. I’ll be back!” Marie exclaim
ed, and her dad answers,
“OKay, Just make sure you’re back before bed time.”
“I will.” Marie rides her bike to the ice-cream parlor, which is small, and has a big ice-cream model on top of the building. Sarah is waiting by the front window.
“Hi, Marie. How are you doing?” Sarah asked happily.
“I’m not doing so great.” Marie replied.
“Want to talk about it as we’re eating ice-cream?” They both sat in the parlor, and decide to talk things out privately since no one else is inside. The waitress came to the table while we were about to talk about it.
“Hello, can I get you anything?” She asked with a smile.“What are you having, Marie?” Sarah asked.
“I guess I’ll have the rocky road ice cream.” Marie requested. She chose the ice-cream because of how rocky her life is going right now. Sarah chose a smoothie, and Marie thought it was probably because of how her life is going more smooth. Marie started to talk to Sarah about her parents’ divorce, and how the rocky road ice-cream is like how her life is going now. When Marie heard the news of the divorce, she was extremely shocked, This is an incredibly life-changing experience for her, but she did hope it wouldn’t alter her grades, and how she does in school. She began to cry as she was talking about this to Sarah. The orders eventually came as Marie was talking to Sarah.
“Uh, Marie? You’re tears are dripping into the ice-cream” Sarah commented with a weirded out tone.
“Oops!” Marie yelped in embarrassment as she wiped her tears off. Marie and Sarah eat their food, and Marie continued.
“One of my parents might be moving out, so that means I might be moving or not.” Sarah then began to be shocked, and stopped drinking her smoothie.
“I wish you’d stay here in Boston, I might ever be able to see you again!” Sarah exclaimed.
“Is it OKay if I stay over at your house over night? I think I need a little more time outside the house to think about this.” Marie asked.
“Sure you can.” Sarah replied. Sarah and Marie go out of the ice-cream parlor, and use their bikes to get home. Marie arrives back into the house, and goes up to her parents.
“Hey mom? I was wondering, can I have a sleepover with Sarah?” Marie asked her mom.
“ I guess you can go.” Marie’s mom continued.
“Listen you’re dad and I have something to tell you. You’re dad is going to move out of the house.”
“Am I staying in the house, or am I moving out? I might not be able to see Sarah again.” Marie asked nervously. Her mom responded.
“You’re moving out.” Marie gasps as her mom continued.
“Across the street.” Marie heavily sighed in relief.
“So that means I can still hang out with Sarah?”
“Yes you can.” Her mom responded. Marie cheered, and got ready for her sleepover. She packed her pajamas, and her cloths, and her videogames. She rode her bike to Sarah’s house with the bag of her stuff as if she was a delivery girl delivering a newspaper. She arrived at Sarah’s house, and knocked the door. Sarah answered the door and let Marie in.
“So, did you get any info? Are you moving out?” Sarah asked curiously.
“I actually am moving out” Marie replied.
“W-Where are you going?!” Sarah asked in shock.
“Just across the street. Which means I can still live 10 minutes from you still!” They both cheered as they started their sleepover. The story ends with both Sarah and Marie in their sleeping bags.
“Goodnight, Marie”
“Goodnight, Sarah” Marie turned off the light as they went into their sleeping bags, and go to sleep.
