Say Yes
We both sat there in the midwinter sun, just me and the girl of my dreams. We sat in silence for a while, and then she spoke.
She said she wasn't sure if she could go through with it.
It was too sudden, and anyway, she was far too young to be getting married. What if there was someone else out there who truly loved her?
I told her there wasn't anyone else.
Just say yes, I said. If you don't, you'll wonder "what if?" for the rest of your life, I told her. She smiled at me.
Ok, she said.
And with that, she got up and went to tell her boyfriend she'd made up her mind.
