Not You, Him
“Hey” he said slowly, softly almost uncertain for the words.
I smiled back as the waitress in blue apron approached us. She held out her small brown pad, almost wrinkled.
She looked down smiling wildly like she does to customers everyday, she jotted down everything he mentioned.
After he is done, she looked at me and asked what I wanted. So I did.
After she left it felt quite awkward, even with the small table standing still between us, I felt odd sitting on this chair.
He looked down then looked up to me again. I wondered what might be going on his head right now.
He leaned forward, reaching my glasses.
I knew what will happen but I didn’t move.
He carefully removed my thin-framed glasses away from my face.
I didn’t flinch as he moved his own glasses away, still leaning towards me.
He looked at me, as if waiting for a sign for me to push him off.
I didn’t flinch and he closed his eyes taking my still body as a “yes”.
He leaned more and met my lips.
I felt a rush of heat and cold within me. I felt that I’m electrocuted.
I didn’t blink, but I wasn’t shocked.
I felt selfish.
His time is stopping as he slowly gives his pure love to me.
I couldn’t say,
“I love him.”
