This was it

I fell in love on the day the world ended.
It wasn't 'love at first sight' or a girl meet boy story.
It didn't end like Romeo and Juliet and it didn't start with a once upon a time
It was more like my friend staring at my big brown doe eyes and me staring at him like he was the constellation that was never named.
Building was collapsing, dropping like rain drops but crashing like shatter glass forming a ripple effect of dust and shards. People running in fear, crying and praying some even killing themselves laying lifeless on the ground being covered with ash and trash.
While the world was ending Jason and I walked inside our high school he guided me through the squalid part of the school and lead me through the gym that was nicely decorated with sky blue ribbon and stars twinkling down on us. Today would have been my junior prom. Even if the world was not ending i wouldn't have gone just because i didn't want to go alone.
" We have 10 min," said Jason. We knew today was the end they announced this morning, a few years back NASA got information that the sun rays are getting too close to the earth. My heart was sinking at the thought of the sun scorching the earth. There was so must I wanted to do and the people shrieking outside just made me feel frightened.
"You are the ghost in the machine, flickering". It was the melody of a song that clouded the people cries and made me realize that I wasn't home sitting on my couch watching television. It's 8:30 in the afternoon and the sun is going to scorch our earth in exactly 8 mins, and instead of wasting those 8 min with family I'm with my best friend who i never got a chance to tell him that i really love him.
He pulls me closer to him, having his hand around my waist and our foreheads together swaying to the melody of a song.
" what are you thinking?" he whispers so softly you wouldn't be able to hear him if you're just a feet away. Should I tell him? Tell him that I was heartbroken when he said he was going to ask Alex to the dance. Maybe if I didn't then the world won't end, maybe the sun chooses to burn us out just to have us together and maybe if i don't say anything we have more time.
"I l-I'm scared," I told him, But he caught my hesitation and I knew that he knew what I was really going to say. With 5 mins left and the music is gone and all we hear is static from the radio and the heat is rising.
we stop dancing and he stared at me and I am getting nervous because death is literally right around the corner and I wish he would do something to save us but that would be selfish of me because i know that he can't and all he is doing is staring that me.
" I have to tell you something?" he said breathing heavily because of the rising heat and the lack of oxygen.
" Don't say it" I said urgently. she stares at with hurt and confuse, "this isn't how it was supposed to be, love stories don't end with a the sun swallowing the earth whole an -" before i can finish he presses his lips against mine moving them catching every breath I had left.
" I didn't say it" he breathes out.
With nothing more than a few seconds left I kiss him again he was my first kiss and now he will be my last
10 - I grab him head pulled him into a passionate kiss
9
8 - he pushes me against the wall not letting go of my lips
7
6 - I let go of his lips, still being pinned against the wall
5
4 - I pulled him into a hug and by my face into his next breathing heavily on him, watching the other end of the gym burn
3
2 " I love you " I muttered as I watch the flame come closer I wasn't scared anymore
1- This was it.

It's a short story.

I was inspired by my sudden boredom and the painting by Viktor Vasnetsov who painted the four horsemen in which got me thinking about the apocalypse.
