The Deaf Girl

The first time I saw him my heart felt like it had sank all the way down to my stomach. He was the most beautiful man I’ve ever seen. He looked like he was sculpted by the angels. I looked over and we made eye contact. I tried to look away but I couldn’t it was like are eyes were locked and the key was thrown into an endless pile of trash never to be found again. I couldn’t move I was frozen then as if it was a dream he started to walk towards me just like the rest of him his walk was perfect. He came close and stopped just a few feet away. Then he opened his beautiful mouth and said, “hello” now everything about him was perfect from his walk to his talk everything was just perfect. I tried to speak but I couldn’t I tried to hear but I couldn’t as I was deaf. I pointed to my ear I don’t think he got it then I started to sign that’s what gave him the warning that he was speaking to a deaf girl. I only knew what he had said because I learned to be able to read lips. I looked down wishing that my disorder didn’t exist as I was positive I might have just found my true love. When I looked up I expected him to be gone but no he was still there standing with a smile. I looked around for my mother she knew how to translate although I didn’t want her to translate our conversations. When my eyes pointed her out I waved her over. She asked me who is this and I signed a boy, a beautiful boy who I think I am in love with. Of course he didn’t know what I was saying but my mother told him that my name was Holly and that I was born with this disorder.
