One Spring Day
The afternoon was silent. He stood next to the mailbox, holding a letter from his dream school. He opened the envelope carefully and slid the solitary piece of paper out. Beneath the letterhead were four words- “Dear Oliver, look out.” He stared at the words, confused. The quiet was broken by the sound of screeching tires. All Oliver could utter was a cry of surprise as an arm reached out of a van emblazoned with the school’s crest and snatched him away. The only sound that spring day was of the van, accelerating down the street before it disappeared forever.
