Graduation Day
Jason and Jessie haven’t seen their dad, Jim, since their mom, Mary, left him when they were three and four. Jessie would talk to Jim behind her mom’s back on and off for the next fourteen years. It was the day of Jessie’s prom, and she got into a huge fight with Jim and she completely shut him out. About three weeks later was Jason’s high school graduation. As Jessie, Jason, and their family were leaving the ceremony, Jessie saw someone she recognized and realized that it was Jim. She was too scared to go talk to him, because she thought that Mary would get mad at her. So she just kept walking and acted like she didn’t see him. Six months later, Mary and Jessie were going to Mary’s mom’s house to help her move when Mary told Jessie that the night before she was doing some research on Jim to see what he had been doing with his life. She told Jessie that he had killed himself back in May. Jessie automatically got upset. The first thing that she asked her was if she knew what day he did it. Mary told her that it was the day that Jason graduated. Jessie pulled out her phone and looked up the obituary of her dad. It said that he died in a hospital in Georgia. Jessie and Jason live in Illinois. Jessie was speechless because she swears that he was at the graduation ceremony to see Jason get his diploma. She saw him with her own two eyes. The obituary said he died at 6:09 pm and the ceremony started at 7:00 pm.
