“What’s Broken,” written by Miles P., talks about racism. His writing left me feeling interested and also heartbroken. Racism is a huge part of our lives. It seems like everywhere we go we hear or see racist behavior. The article talks about how students of color at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School feel uncomfortable having police officers at the school. “They feel that police will try to hurt them or get them in trouble because of the color of their skin.” When I read this I was shocked because usually when there are police officers around, people feel safer. That isn’t the case for many black students. They feel like criminals just because of the color of their skin. I hope this article is an eye-opener for readers. It was for me. Everyone should be treated like they are just another human being.
