Needing Success Like Air
In her article, "Needing Success Like Air," Corey Ogles describes her moment of inspiration. Drowning in the ocean and struggling to find air, instead of her life flashing before her eyes, all she saw was her future. She felt like she had been cheated out of time and all she so desperately needed was to be successful. "My need for success was as vital as my need for air."
Ogles' necessity to achieve is something felt by everyone. However, her epiphany came to her uniquely at a time when she was closest to experiencing death. In the end, her insurgence broke the surface, and she realized what she wanted to do with her life. Her internal struggle made me believe that at one point everyone wants the satisfaction of being able to prove they have a place in this world. And as difficult as it may be to create the ideal life, everyone deserves their rightful chance to squeeze absolutely everything out of their time on Earth.
