Feedback on "A New Me" by Leigh N.
Every time I open my next issue of Teen Ink, I am greeted with new stories, concepts, and ideas. "A New Me," a fiction piece by Leigh N., does not disappoint. The piece, based around the expression "new year, new me," introduces a protagonist who becomes a new version of himself each new year. The concept is enthralling, and the story leaves readers waiting in anticipation for its closing.
With suspenseful lines such as "The seconds, and his life, were ticking by," "A New Me" keeps a fast pace. Leigh also contrasts this with mysterious lines that leave the reader wanting an explanation. One such line states, "In a few minutes, he wouldn't have to deal with all the noise anymore." From the bookend quality of the piece, to the frantic yet quiet mood, "A New Me" is worth the few minutes it takes to read.
