The Jacket
“The Jacket” is about a girl who wanted a new jacket. So her mother got her one but she didn’t like it. She said it was too ugly, and she described it as a “guacamole” colored jacket. She said she was ugly in the jacket. She is obviously struggling with her self appearance. She wore the jacket to school and got a D on her math quiz, a kid pushed her, girls looked at her and talked about her, and her teachers were no help. Everyone gossiped about her. She wasn’t the “girl” everyone was nice to or played with. Even her best friend couldn’t help her. She blames her mother for her bad taste and her cheap ways.
