Split Ends
I have a pet peeve. I hate things that are slightly altered or just barely out of order. I hate things that stick out in the middle of the union. Like split ends.
Split ends make hair weaker and dryer, and they also prevent faster hair growth. When you pull apart a split end, the hair gets even weaker, even dryer, and the microscopic zoom in proves that.
Just thought some background science would be useful.
I have red hair. I got it dyed on the second day of school. It’s slightly dry, but in better condition than I thought it would be. Of course, there’s a lot of split ends that can’t be seen from far away. When you look at a random handful of hair, though, there are so many split ends that just have to be ripped off or pulled apart.
It’s a habit to listen to someone speaking, just grab some hair, and begin examining the tips for those annoying imperfections. It’s so bad for my hair, but it’s so satisfying when I can pull one apart. That doesn't occur too often though, 'cause my fingers are too fat or because the split ends are so small. Maybe because I’m clumsy, or because the lighting will never be just right. But I just can't.
They’re just like me. I’m imperfect, and it shows really easily, no matter how small the imperfection is.
That imperfection damages the rest of me. Just like the split ends that are tiny but stop my hair from being unhealthy.
That imperfection annoys me. I want to fix it, just pull apart certain things and put in others to make everything see perfect.
But when you zoom in on the actual picture, you can see that my attempt to fix my problem failed. It just made the whole imperfection worse.
I wanna cut my hair to get rid of those split ends.
I wanna do something great to get rid of those inescapable imperfections.
But I can’t.
There will always be something leftover.
Oh well...
