Live Without
Throughout the years, people have become more and more attached to their objects. Some even look at things such as phones and TVs as companions rather than everyday objects.
For me, I’ve always felt closest to my car. Although it would be very hard living without technology, my car definitely is more important to me. I still remember the first day I got my car, I had been saving up nearly two years and I had finally turned 16. I had big dreams of buying a sports car with the loud exhaust and speed to back it up but knew I wasn’t going to be able to buy one when I looked at the amount of money I had saved. My mom took me to the dealership the weekend after I turned 16 and had me look at a 2006 Honda Accord with 180,000 miles on it. The car was as far away from “cool” as you could imagine, not sporty and quick, dirty cloth seats, and it didn’t even have Bluetooth. I was disappointed to say the least, not only with the car but also with myself. I had worked so hard to get a cool car and it was like it didn’t even matter, I kept this mindset up until that night. I spent the entire night searching through every dealership looking for cars, that’s when I came across a 2013 BMW 328i that was a very small amount over my price range, the very next day I went to look at it.
I walked into the dealership and saw a shiny dark blue BMW sitting outside, “No way that’s the car,” I instantly thought. It indeed was the car, I drove it and it was fast, fun and had all of the features that I was looking for. I instantly begged my mom to put in a little bit of money and that I would pay her back and she agreed, just like that, I had my first car. I was thrilled, my hard work had finally paid off and I was able to attain a car that I had always wanted.
My car is so important to me because it is one thing that I can completely call my own. I have completely paid my mom back and I still love the car just as much as the first day I bought it. Even though I have had to put a lot of money into maintenance and repairs since I bought it, I still am very grateful for it. It gets me to school every morning and to work every night and life would be very difficult without it.

This piece is something that I worked on in class. The question being asked was "what is one thing you can't live without?"
