The House On Greendale Drive
The house on Greendale Drive was blessed once upon a time. A child was born and so was a tree. The child was a boy so was the tree sent for him to climb? A "whirlybird" from a Maple tree next door blew into the mother's flower pot on the front porch. A small maple tree sprouted and usually the mother would pluck them out and throw them away because they were like weeds in her flowers. This time the father said, "Why don't we plant that in the front yard since it's wants to live so badly?" The mother thought that was a great idea since the father had a very green thumb and the house needed some shade in front.
The father planted the tree with his son looking on from his baby carrier.
The boy grew mightily and so did the tree.
The parents nurtured the boy with all their love and the father nurtured the tree with Miracle Gro!
So soon the boy grew to climb the tree. The tree grew in record time and shaded the house. The boy and his mother raked the leaves from the tree every year, bagging them after he had jumped in them gloriously. A Robin kept a nest in the tree. And of course, one of the huge maple leaves became the star of a leaf collection for school. So many things this tree gave to this little family, so many that this story could go on forever.
The boy's father passed away in his sleep when the child was nine years old, but the tree grew bigger every day just like the boy.
The father named the tree Mable the Maple and she lives for him and his family and God's Green Earth.
