Down By the River
I was young when I first went down by the river
In the fabulous car in the lot with the windows down
I was smelling a picnic faraway and the bird tweet all day.
I had a hard time swimming back those days, as well as enjoy the very good fish.
I always listened quietly to the drip-drop-drip of the river, like a drizzle of rain coming down.
As seasons change, the river was louder than either. It is a lion prowling around the forest hunting for prey.
The river holds many treasures that I can not and will not remove. Earth is beautiful and taking something is like having a bad hair day.
