I feel that life is always advancing and changing in different directions and waiting to be impacted to find its newest direction to go in. So we look towards media, something we see every day and think is cool, that source of media is film. Film has a huge impact on society, but how is this impactful and breathtaking medium made?

I have been researching the topic of film for our 8th grade culminating project. Some key things I’ve learned about it is multiple inventions leading up to the striving success of film such as the zoopraxiscope, and stereoscope. Once films got popular I released the newer innovations ere for the audience such as kinemacolor and Technicolor to add vibrant life to the stories, and the revolution of synchronized sound in films. Then as we get more recent with film we are rapidly advancing to using more realistic computer animated imagery.

It’s really incredible to think about how much goes into filmmaking, and how after years of spending billions of dollars on a quick two hour movie, this business has managed to continue. All because of how people love falling in love with new characters and worlds that we believe is real for a short period of time. Being able to make people believe, that suspension of reality, really is amazing.

One other impactful aspect of the topic I explored described the most impactful directors, actors and producer who have either influenced others or shaped the direction of Hollywood to make it what it is today. I have learned about specific directors such as Francis Ford Coppola who has created the new Hollywood and created the greatest movie ever made: The Godfather and a producer I research thoroughly was Walt Disney who did more than any other person to define film. I hope to someday do more with film than he did.

I am starting to realize the entire complex aspects used in the process of making a Hollywood film, short films and independent films. All of those interest me and all the diversity in them. All of those famous people that are directing your favorite blockbusters all started out making short films. Being able to express your creativity on a global scale.

I think the way I want this project to impact me is by giving me so much more information that I will be able to use countless times throughout my life. Also in this project I learned basic information about film that because I now I know and can continue researching more advanced subjects. I hope to continue to learn and become better through practice and research.
