An air traffic controller is a possible career for me, because I like to work in an airport and look at different airplane approach and depart the airport. An air traffic controller is under the aviation career and it is a very important job in the airport. In the U.S. most of the air traffic controller are under Federal Aviation Administration (FAA)
In the U.S. if you want to become an air traffic control, you need to be a U.S. citizen, able to speak and understand English; also self-confidence is very important too. An air traffic controller work in the control tower, they work eight hours a day and five days a week. Their job is to arrange airplane take off from the airport and landing from the sky. They also need to work with pilots make sure the flight is safe and the paths are correct. An air traffic controller need to know something about meteorology too, because they need provided different weather data to the pilots.
To become an air traffic controller you can study aviation in college and get a bachelor’s degree. After you get the degree, you need to finish the fifty two weeks training program provide by FAA and complete the eight hours certification exam in order to get the air traffic controller’s license. The training program includes “classroom instruction, tower qualification training and advanced simulation with tower proficiency training”
Every airport needs air traffic controllers. In .U.S. different airports air traffic controllers have different salaries. In general, they can make three different level salaries. “The entry level makes around $42,000 each year; Mid-level makes around $84,000. The max level makes around $139,000 per year”
An air traffic controller is a professional career. It is not an easy job. A lot of training and an examination is required. An air traffic controller makes a good amount of money per year, but sometimes the salary is not the first thing to look for, the important thing is to have the ability and love ones career.
