Blue.
The familiar comforting blue paints the world like water seeping over a smooth surface. The blue is nice even if It’s not real, just a cover, a fake smile that stays through the day to allow others to feel happy, like things are stable and simple and blue. Then I look through my telescope in dead black night, when the blue goes away because it thinks no one is watching, and I see the stars, the balls of distant beautiful light that beam and glow behind the blue. Even if it’s dark, even if theres a dark universe full of unknowns and dangers, I love the stars the blue hides. But the blue mask will still cover it’s darkness along with it’s stars so that everyone can feel safe. I don’t know why people like the blue so much. They just see the darkness in people, instead of the stars in their eyes.
