My First Document
It was October 14, 2014, it was a Sunday, the weather was nice, and we missed church. We
never missed church, so I wondered what was happening. I started to think something horrible
had happened or something good, I wondered if I was in trouble, “it is okay”, I thought to
myself, I came up with crazy scenarios maybe it is something for Halloween or even better. I
knew I did not get in trouble or do anything too bad that week. I sat in my black car seat,
which I felt I did not need anymore, it had crumbs in it and liquid stains as we drove in my
mom's chevy impala with a tan interior. On this day I had on a matching outfit. It was a pink
shirt with a white outline, mimicking a boy, the bow was a different material with gray with
pink polka dots. I also had on gray leggings with pink polka dots on them.
On the drive, I asked my mom for the 100th time “where are we going” She looked at me with
an emotionless face and pointed to her nose indicating that I was being nosy. I strongly
disliked when she did this, I didn't see why she didn’t just tell me where we were going.
After we drove for a bit, she grabbed her phone out of her black purse and answered the phone saying, “Yes we are on the way.”
My curiosity grew, maybe I am going to someone's birthday party or my mom's getting a new
car, or it was something late for my birthday. Even though, I had gone to the spa and got most
of the stuff I asked for, besides a Wubble Bubble Ball, even though they were a complete fraud,
a dog, and a little sister. Wherever we were going was not super far, but it was far enough. I
hated being in the car, you could not get up, you could not watch tv, play with friends, or
anything! All you could do was play I-SPY by yourself or watch a PBS KIDS show on your
mom's phone while she drives. I always wished my mom had the same cars as my dad, one of
his went super-fast which I loved and the other had TVs, so I could watch whatever I wanted. I
would always watch The Princess and the Frog or Wreck-it Ralph or any DVD movie my papa
had at his house that I would take with me. Finally, we were there after a twenty-thirty-minute drive. We pulled into a driveway, but I did not know whose it was.
My mom reached for her phone in her purse once again “We're here,” she said sounding like
she was excited but trying to hide it, immediately after she hung up the phone.
I was confused and wondering where we were. The house driveway we had pulled into had
green vines and leaves all over it, it was a tan color and had a brown door and their driveway
had a metal cover over it with dents. Their house was hilly as you went up the driveway you
could feel yourself going up. They had grass with tons of yellow spots like a dog had peeing
there for a long time and a brown roof.
My mom finally got out of the car and told me to stay inside and wait. A plump lady walked
out, she had a yellow shirt with gray black biker shorts and a cage in her hands with a small
black and white Shih Tzu Maltese. When my mom saw it, she had a thrilled expression on her face.
She walked to the door I sat close to and showed me the dog. “Happy early Christmas,” my
mom said.
“Wait, really?” I said pronouncing really with a “W” since I need to go to speech therapy. We
named him Ace; he had black fur dots on both of his eyes, on his right ear the top was black
and below was white on the left ear, it was the opposite the top was white and towards the
bottom it was black, he had a black heart shape of fur on his back which I pointed out as soon as I saw him.
When we got home, I face timed everyone on my iPad, my dad, my nana, my papa, my aunt
and so many more.
Halloween was coming and I knew what I was going to be. I was a witch with a purple and
black costume and the same color leggings underneath with a blue trick-or-treating basket a
purple sparkly broomstick and a black witch hat. Ace was a hotdog, he did not go trick or
treating with us because he was barking and trying to get away. As I got older, we kept Ace
until I was about 8, he was always doing something he was not supposed to be doing, running
away, chasing squirrels and so much more he was a bad dog, but I loved him anyway. When
my younger sister was born, we moved to Tampa and gave Ace away. Though we no longer
have him he will forever be in my heart.
