English Language Arts
My dearest English Language Arts teacher, who I shall not name,
I would like to request that we, the students, be allowed to write how we please. No more prompts, no more '20 words minimum'. I understand that we must be challenged, but you are draining us of our creativity. We are no longer allowed freedom of expression due to your rules, and so I see no reason to listen to you after this point. I'm not one to judge, but I suggest that you visit the library and find the definition of the word 'independent', for your class is not one that should be described with it. I feel that I'm being forced to write the way that YOU think is right, not the way that I think is right, which was a promise of your classroom. There is quite clearly a power imbalance within this class that I believe can only be fixed by us, the students.
Thank you,
An independent person.

This is a bit of a rant piece, and it's about my teacher, who I won't say the name of. I will say that he promised that this class would be a 'new and independent experience', which it surely isn't. We've been given prompts for every piece of writing that we make, and aren't allowed to deviate from them. Every time we've told him about our feelings, he says that he 'didn't want to make it an argument', and tries to guilt trip us into feeling bad for him.
