Lost Friends,No Longer Lost

I am 16 and I can say I am a lonely person and growing up definitely affected my life’s social aspect drastically.  However I wasn’t always lonely! Growing up I had a good friend named Mary. We were friends with one another all throughout elementary school, but as we all should know, growing up things will change and shift. She moved away and I became the person I am today, very lonely. But that all changed by the touch of a button.

It was April 23 of 2022. It was a boring rainy day and I decided to lay around in bed. Like every teen, I was scrolling through Tik Tok.Then my mind thought about how Tiktok wasn’t always called Tiktok and that a few years ago it was called Musically. Keep in mind,I had a Musically account back in 2015 and at the time I was in Elementary and was still friends with Mary. So out of curiosity, I tried logging onto my old account and to my surprise, it was still up and running. I ended up going  through all my old videos and then I came across one about Mary. In the video it had a few pictures of Mary and I. Those photos just struck a sudden rush of excitement and memories. So I then did the next crazy thing.

I went onto Instagram and posted the photos of Mary and I on my Instagram story. Then I explained that I found old pictures of her and wrote about how I needed to find her since I really missed her. I wrote specific details like, when she went to my school, when she moved and why and I even wrote what her middle and last name was. I was determined to find this girl. Then other people from my elementary school started replying, then soon we had a whole investigative team. We were on a mission to find her, then the unbelievable happened. My friend Josie texted me an account. I started to freak out, as well as Josie. We were freaking out especially since her post looks like her and the name matched perfectly. So I did what I had to do. I messaged that profile Josie sent me. I texted the profile a picture of Mary and I and messaged her a lot of details. I wrote “Hey this might be strange to ask but have you ever lived in Hawaii” then went into specific details like how old she might be, what Mary’s full name was and why she moved away. Then to my surprise, I got a reply and it was really her! I got a reply 7 hours after the message and it was really Mary. We caught up A LOT and reminisced on our childhood together. We talked about how we used to spend our birthdays along the beach. We even talked about the time we accidentally ran into one another at a hotel in California during a vacation, after she moved . We always found a way back to each other, but when we did we never stayed connected, but that changed due to being older and technology. It was incredible to reconnect with her, she was my long lost friend who is no longer lost anymore.
