Ice Day

I’ve been wishing for this type of weather all winter. A day where I can stay home from school because of an ice day. On the night of the 21st I stayed up late waiting to see if the weather was going to come. At first it seemed as if it wasn’t coming down hard enough so I decided to go to sleep and wait til the morning.

The morning finally came and I woke up on my own. Something that usually doesn’t happen because my mom normally wakes me up because she wakes up for work at the same time I wake up for school. I rolled onto my side and looked at the clock on the side of my bed and saw that it was 8am. I was in shock. I opened my blinds and saw that the roads were covered in thick ice.

I remembered that both my brother Brady and my dad had off as well, so I ran in their rooms to see if they were awake. Of course my dad wasn’t in his room because he wakes up early no matter what just to work on things around the house. I knew I could count on my brother being in his room because he usually sleeps in till noon on weekends so I thought he probably would still be sleeping now.

When I went to talk with my dad in his shop in our basement, he brought up how we were going to have to make up for this day because we didn’t have any snow days built into the schedule this year. I was kinda bummed out but I was also happy because we had the day off.

I didn’t know what I was going to do today. I was hoping for an ice day all night but I never thought of anything I could do. The only things I could really do were things inside because of the bad weather outside.

I spent most of this day playing video games with my brother and friends because there wasn’t much else to spend time on.

Overall this day was a win and lose because I was able to sleep in and spend the day at home, but knowing that we are going to have to make this day up on the monday we have off usually because of Easter kinda stinks.
