Essay Contest: Slippery Sunday Snow Storm
It was a cold Snowy Sunday afternoon on December 31, 2021, New Year's Eve. I went to the store to get some food for the night to celebrate New Year’s Eve with my family. I pulled into
Pick n´ save and I heard a loud thump. I looked and saw a lady that slid into a snowy ditch.
I walked over to her car with snow crunching below my feet and tapped on her window and I asked, “Do you need some help getting out of there?”
She said, “Absolutely, if you don't mind.”
I took a look at the situation. I knew she was not going to be able to just drive right out.
I started removing the snow from around her car. Next, I had her put her car in reverse and said “Slowly give it a little gas while I push.” She does that and I tried to push but the tires just spin.
I realized that wasn't going to work. I ask her if she has anything in her car we can put under her tires. She said, “I have some Old bags of mulch; that's pretty much it.”
I took the mulch and poured some behind each of her front tires and tried to get some under it too. This should give her traction.
I had her put it into reverse and I lifted and pushed the car. It moved back slightly and hit the mulch. The car was slowly crawling out. As I saw the car getting closer and closer to the road and I kept pushing, soon enough the car hit the road again. She hopped out and came up to me and gave me a big hug and she said, “Thank you so so much.”
As I walked back I was thinking and realized that I just made someone so happy and saved them a lot of hassle and that is something I can feel good and proud about doing.
