Just imagine. September of eighth grade, sitting in my room staring at the ceiling, not going to lie the mood was quite sad.  If this were the beginning of seventh grade I would be hanging out with my sister Katie in her room laughing and hearing about all her fun senior activities she gets to do and how she is planning her speech for graduation.

But now, she is gone. Away at college 92 miles away from me at the Alpha Phi house. Katie and I had a really good relationship. She was basically my built-in best friend. I could tell her anything and I could trust her with everything.

I also have an older sister that is two years older than Katie and her name is Masdisen. Madisen is a perfect college student and was the president of her sorority. Basically the girl everyone aspires to be. She is super nice and kind but there is such an awkward age gap so sometimes it felt weird talking to her about my stupid middle school old drama that she probobly didn't care about. She was also already in college by the time I even got to middle school.

When it was just Katie and I at home we would go to get smoothies or go to the mall or just to go run errands but that was only every once in a while. I miss Katie a lot. I miss being able to just walk in her room and tell her all the gossip knowing I can trust her not to tell anyone.

I have always been a little bit jealous of Katie and Madisens relationship. They're so close in age and Katie chose to go to OSU just like Madisen. I was so upset that they were together and I was just at home with my parents.(don't get me wrong I do love my mom and dad)  When Katie got to school I felt like my life was just rolling downhill. Such a big adjustment.  I couldn't give her a hug over the phone. She was also a college student now so she didn't have a lot of free time on her hands.

Still staring at the ceiling thinking about what fun she is having without me in college. That was the moment. The realization of me thinking to myself why I didn't spend more time with her when she lived at home. Why didn't I try to spend all of my time with Katie? I was just shocked that she wouldn't live at home with me till the summer and that was only for two months. I couldn't just be sad all of eighth grade and through high school.

I needed to change this right now. I need to turn my life around, enjoy being young, and figure out a way to make this situation work.

I went to visit her for a night and we went to Easton Town Center and to dinner and just had the best time. She surprised me a few times. That was the best, I would walk in the door from school or sports and she would just be there. We hung out almost all of winter break. I Facetimed her a lot.

Now going into freshman year reflecting on my past, I extremely regret not spending more time with her when she lived at home. Same goes with Madisen as I am growing up it keeps getting easier and easier to talk to her. Madisen and Katie will always be missed during the school year. I can't wait till the next time I get to see them both.
