I Had A Dream the World Was Ending
I had a dream that the world was ending. We (me and a few people I don’t know or remember) were walking through the woods and the light was so perfect, just the way Emily Dickinson said it would be, and I couldn’t stop crying but nobody else seemed to care. The sea was coming in and there was no tomorrow and I was just running around trying to take every single second in and wishing for the feeling of permanence that my boring life usually has and crying and screaming at the indifference of everyone else and thinking about heaven and trying to believe in it and it hurt so immensely. And I woke up to my alarm and found all that was within ten minutes, after I pressed snooze. It felt endless.
And when we were stumbling through the forest I said to nobody, “Don’t you just wish you could catch some of this light in a jar and take it with you?” A nameless boy agreed with me and that made me feel better.
