The Mal* Mart story
Taylor isn’t the brightest light in the closet, she does really embarrassing things. She has the obsessive need to bark at people from the car window, and make dolphin noises at people as they walk by. Also if she thinks someone is cute, or she’s just bored, she yells “OW OW” at them as loud as she can, which can be pretty loud. But there was one thing she did that I’ll never forget.
One day my mom decided to take Taylor to Wal-Mart with her, which was a bad idea anytime. Taylor can’t act normal no matter how hard she tries, so having to try to act normal she got bored and wondered to the toy aisle, which would’ve been no big deal, had she not been about 14. And there she picked out a Barbie and asked my mom if she would get it for her, when mom said no, she had the brilliant idea to act as if she were, for lack of a better term, retarded. She rubbed up against my mom like a little 5 year old and continued to beg for the Barbie. When mom got annoyed with this she pushed Taylor away by the face, right as an old lady walked by.
“Don’t be mean! Special people need love too!” she yelled at my mom, and my mom getting irritated with the whole thing replied with “She’s not special, she’s acting retarded” and it probably wasn’t the best choice in words because after it was said the old lady hit my mom with her purse and started to walk away. And Taylor, still acting retarded ran after her yelling “Don’t hit my aunt Kelly; she’ll beat me when we get home.” And with that the old lady gave my mom another dirty look and followed them as they finished their shopping. And after checking out, she followed them out into the parking lot, and wrote down my mom’s license plate number.
After that my mom still has problems with taking Taylor to Wal-Mart, but on the bright side she’s kind of matured a little, well enough to handle a job, school, and a small child. And although sometimes it’s good to be a little immature, if it comes to the point of acting “special” in Wal-Mart, you’ve gone a little too far.
