A Sunny Day Gone Wrong
A Sunny Day Gone Wrong
It was a sunny September day. Technically still summer, but not for me as school had to come around. I remember being driven to kindergarten early that morning, then waiting outside the gates to go to my classroom, waiting in the cool morning air. It started out as a normal school day, doing school work exercises and stuff like that. Our break time finally came, but something strange happened. We were being sent home early. No one was sure what was going on. Not a lot of extra details were given. I was happy at first, until I came out of the gates, seeing the parents’ faces, all sad. Somehow, that instantly made me sad. I knew something was wrong. That was the most vivid moment I remember, looking up into the clear blue sky, such a nice day out, but horror was upon us.
The drive back was awkwardly slow, calm and quiet, from what I can remember. My dad tried explaining to me what happened, but couldn't’t understand. Why, would someone want to do this? That is a question I would painfully have to answer myself as I grew up, and getting exposed to more of the world, how it works, and the people that inhabit it.
