Being a teenager is a very important time in a person’s life. “Why?,” you may ask. Well, because it’s the important time of preparation for adulthood. Before the teen years is important, but being a teen gives a glimpse of adulthood and what comes with it, while coming from youth and what comes with that.

Don’t get me wrong, being a teen is hard and annoying. It’s a time that adults look upon with embarrassment and annoyance. Nonetheless it’s a time to figure out your talents, what you like and your perspective in life. Being a teen is not very easy or inspirational. C’mon, hormones, school, friends, parents, hobbies; they are not easy. They change and there is not a straightforward step-by-step way to always deal with them. But, and as much as this pains me to admit, they help make us the best we can be. A very popular trend is to “be who you are” which is great, but I like to take it further and say, “be the best you, you can be.”

The teenage years are not the same for anyone, we each have our own situations, personalities, and way of living life. Those things shape us for the future, and sure, I sound like and out of touch motivational speaker, I know. What I said is true though, the majority of the human lifespan is spent as an adult, so me might as well make sure that time is great. That is why being a teen is an important role in society. We have the power to potentially control the future.

Being a teenager is awesome, don’t take it for granted and use this time to be the best you, you can be. Because one day you’ll look back at you teen years and hopefully know you used them well.

Being a teen isn't easy, for anyone, its a time that people can be lead the right direction or the wrong one. I wanted to make other teens think about the importance of this time.
