Swoosh!!!
Swoosh!!!
The gym is silent compared to the usual chants and cheers that usually went on. The only sound is the dribbling of the ball in my hands. My heart is pounding and seemed to go twice as fast as usual. Sweat poured down my face and made my bangs stick to my forehead.
For the first time in nearly six years my team made it to the championship. For weeks I had anticipated this game both excited and scared to death. Then it all came down to one shot, one shot to lead my team to victory. The scoreboard showed 42 to 42.
I took a deep breath, then i faced the basket. I squared up and then shot the ball. It seemed like it was going in slow motion as it slowly reached the rim and fell through with a "swoosh."
The whole stadium erupted with cheers, and I let out a sigh of relief as my team came and pounded me on the back and lifted me up on their shoulders. My mind was in a daze as they carried me out of the gym. I never forgot that game, and those are the moments I live for.
